ALCAN Highway - Adventure Road to Alaska

by Sandy Mortimer

Agent: Windoes Travelogues

The Far North has always called to the adventurous. It does today. In 1942, the US and Canadian governments were forced to build an overland route to Alaska through 1500 miles of road-less wilderness. Watch the building of this highway, travel it in the dusty '50's, and revel in the beauty and wilderness of the highway today. Meet those who live along this road, relive the gold rush of 1898, search for trophy sheep by horseback and fly over Kluane National Park.
